LEARNING STRATEGY TRAINING

THE GOALS OF TEACHERS: To make language learners aware of their own potential on learning something and teach them strategies.

THE ROLES OF THE TEACHERS:
The teacher models the use of the strategy using a think-aloud demonstration

THE ROLES OF THE STUDENTS:
Learners evaluate their own success in learning strategies and they modify the strategy to meet their own learning needs.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TEACHING/LEARNING PROCESS:
Discovering effective ways of learning

THE NATURE OF STUDENT-TEACHER/STUDENT-STUDENT INTERACTION:
Both types of interaction are observed.

THE FEELINGS OF THE STUDENTS DEALT WITH:
Considered important


THE VIEWS OF LANGUAGE AND CULTURE:
Language is part of its culture.


THE LANGUAGE AREAS:
Grammatical (linguistic) and functional properties.

THE LANGUAGE SKILLS:
All skills are considered significant.


THE ROLE OF THE STUDENTS’ NATIVE LANGUAGE
: There is no need to use the native language.


EVALUATION
: Self-assessment is believed to be contributive to language learning

ERROR CORRECTION:
No specific error correction is observed.

THE TECHNIQUES: Through modeling ,asking questions, guessing games.
